Essentials of an Emergency Action Plan
(Joint with Safety)
Managing emergencies affects most aspects of a utility’s operations. Development of an effective written plan entails risk assessment, incident management, documentation, training, communication, practice exercises and corrective action. Then, once an incident or event occurs, this plan drives an organization’s response mechanisms. Knoxville, TN, Utilities Board (KUB) recently updated and improved its emergency action plan. Brooke Sinclair, KUB manager of Safety & Technical Services, will cover practical components in an effective plan and share lessons learned.

Veteran businessman and humorist Fred Landiss, vice president of F&M Bank, answers these questions and more. As the 12th large bank chartered in Tennessee, much of F&M’s growth has been attributed to the offbeat but powerful strategies Landiss spearheaded.
