Mark Kimball, General Manager of Gallatin Department of Electricity (GDE), and a TVPPA board member, was featured in the most recent edition of APPA’s Public Power Currents newsletter. In the interview, Kimball shared his insight on fiscal responsibility and keeping rates as low as possible while offering continuous improvement and maintaining high standards for his community and GDE employees.

In the interview, Kimball, who recently won APPA’s Mark Crisson Leadership and Managerial Excellence Award, discussed the challenges of operating solely on cash reserves which the utility has done for the past 37 years. “It helps with rates if you are not borrowing, but the challenge is to maintain the electric system at a high level and not borrow,” he says in the interview.
