Memphis LG&W has released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for an Integrated Resource Plan (IRP).

According to an April 8 news release, MLGW’s aim is to “accurately determine the most viable options should the utility elect to procure electricity from sources other than TVA.” In its statement, the utility said the IRP would incorporate a transmission analysis with an eye toward comparing MLGW’s current ‘all-requirements’ Wholesale Power Contract with TVA to its prospects in the “wholesale power market.”

MLGW noted that proposals are due May 17 and that the contract would be awarded in July 2019. The utility further noted that the IRP is an “industry standard approach” utilities use to assess “optimal resources for … long-term electricity supply.”
